Understanding forces

Sixth graders worked in stations to explore different aspects of forces.  They determined which material has more friction, used spring scales to measure force, and saw how a box rolling on pencils requires less force to pull.  They also pushed a car with and without additional weight and saw how force affects objects with different mass.  These experiences allowed them to see first-hand the effects of forces and so get a better understanding of the concepts.
